Bogartes

In 2014 I was one of three French type designers selected by the Centre National des Arts Plastiques to propose a new typeface to celebrate the national event Graphisme en France 2014. The result, named Bogartes, is a contemporary tribute to French typographic history: from Garamond, Fournier, and Didot to the idiosyncratic shapes of the late-nineteenth century, Bogartes combines a solid structure with a number of stylistic sets containing singular lettershapes, all reminiscent of a specific episode of French typographic history. But beyond its historical roots, Bogartes is foremost a solid, contemporary and playful text face, designed to perform well both in print and on screen.

The Centre National des Arts Plastiques eventually settled on another project, but Bogartes is still under development and will hopefully be released soon. Get in touch for further info.
